Location: Simeon Care for the Elderly
Type of vacancy: Live in/short term co-worker
When to apply
We accept volunteer applications at Simeon Care for the Elderly, in Aberdeen, all year round.
The Volunteer Role
Volunteer co-workers at Simeon live alongside other volunteers and the elderly residents. They share all activities of daily living, and help in supporting our elderly residents with daily personal care and meaningful activities to enhance their wellbeing and quality of life.
Some of our older people are very ill and frail and need a lot of physical care. Others can do quite a lot themselves, but may want help to go shopping, out for a walk or to enjoy the garden, do hobbies, or take part in activities. Some have a learning disability or dementia. Some residents are simply old people like perhaps your own grandparents. It is a rich and rewarding experience, and also can be very demanding.
Ideally we would like you to come for one year, although we may accept volunteers for a minimum stay of 6 months. There is so much to learn, it is really worth spending the year with us. It also gives you the opportunity to see more of Scotland while you are here!
