Camphill has valued its international connections since the organisation began 80 years ago. Each year, over 200 (usually young) full time volunteers from overseas who want to work with people with learning disabilities and experience life in community come to Scotland. They dedicate up to a year of their lives to supporting communities, and their contributions are valued by residents, staff and families too.
The young volunteers’ dedication, particularly through the pandemic, has been highlighted in an article in Third Force News (p.18), the magazine for the voluntary sector.

We want to protect our international connections, which might be compromised by the enforcement by the UK Government of an Immigration Health Surcharge of £600. We believe that this surcharge is grossly unfair, and will have an adverse impact upon the ability of charities across the UK to recruit international volunteers.
Join our call, by emailing us to add your organisation’s name to our campaign, and help ensure that young overseas volunteers can continue to experience and contribute to charities across the UK.
