Claire Baker MSP, the Scottish Labour Party’s Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Culture, Tourism and External Affairs, visited Corbenic on 3 May 2019.
Camphill Corbenic was delighted to welcome Claire back to the community. During a tour of Corbenic Claire met a group of co-workers likely to be affected by Brexit. She heard first hand the co-workers’ concerns about the potential impact of Brexit upon Corbenic and upon the other Camphill communities in Scotland.
Jon Plunkett, Team Leader – Day Service, said:
The Corbenic Community very much enjoyed another visit from Claire Baker MSP. Claire has visited previously, and on this recent occasion took up our invitation to come and plant a tree on the Corbenic Poetry Path. Claire again showed a great deal of enthusiasm for and interest in the work we do here, taking time to see around the community, meeting staff members and volunteers from all over the world, and many of the residents who benefit from them being at Corbenic.
The community as a whole appreciate Claire taking the time to come and gain greater understanding of the contribution Corbenic makes to care provision in Scotland, and the unique way this is achieved.
Claire Baker MSP said:
“It was a pleasure to visit Corbenic again. It is such a warm and welcoming place and I am very supportive of the environment they create and the positive opportunities provided for their community. While we discussed future challenges, Corbenic is a community that we need to value, support and celebrate”.
