About the community

Living Together – Working Together – Growing Together

Tiphereth is a Camphill community based on the edge of Edinburgh city, in Scotland. In living, working and growing together we offer a wide variety of services for adults with learning disabilities and autism where the qualities of openness, respect, trust and care are nurtured. In our 25 years of working with people, we have developed residential services, day services and social enterprises offering adults with learning disabilities and autism opportunities for life sharing and meaningful work to realise their potential.

Our three beautiful residential houses provide a family-style home, where the uniqueness of each individual is protected and nurtured. Living together with families and students, those with special needs feel a sense of belonging. They experience the benefits and value in contributing to the lives of others around them and our ethos of respect and inclusivity. Our new flats at The Fairways are due to open in summer 2018. They will offer further opportunities for residential placements with us, where individuals will be supported to experience greater independence in their own tenancies.

We offer a variety of both indoor and outdoor Day Services within our workshops at Tiphereth and the wider community. Our Day Services support adults with special needs and autism to engage in meaningful work and to achieve new practical and social skills. Through artistic and weaving projects, kitchen activities, gardening, composting and conservation work for our neighbourhood we work together to nurture and inspire creative potential.

We currently run two social enterprise projects where the production of environmentally and economically sustainable firewood and compost provide meaningful work for our members. Colinton Community Compost collects green waste and produces a compost soil improver. Colinton Community Firewood sells seasoned logs and kindling throughout Edinburgh and the Lothians.
