About the community

Ochil Tower School traditionally supports young people aged 8 to 18 in a supportive community environment in the heart of Auchterarder. The children often have complex and additional support needs and are referred to us where it has not possible to meet the childrens’ needs in more mainstream settings.

In September 2018 we opened our new Life Skills Centre, supporting young adults aged 18-21 years. This fantastic opportunity enables young people to continue their educational journey with us beyond the age of 18. The Life Skills Centre will harness skills towards further education and employability.

Environmental factors have made previous settings challenging for many of our students, and we are fortunate to be set in 7 acres of beautiful Perthshire countryside, yet just minutes away from Auchterarder’s high street and opportunities for independence for our students. In this setting children and young adults feel more relaxed and better able to forge relationships with peers and staff; they are then more able to build self esteem, confidence and their capacity for resilience.

We have a full-time speech and language therapist and we also offer a comprehensive outdoor pursuits programme.
