Camphill Scotland responds to PVG Scheme reform consultationType: Consultations
Topic: Policy and legislation
Camphill Scotland has worked with Camphill Blair Drummond to submit a response to the Scottish Government’s consultation on its proposals to reform the current Protection of Vulnerable Group scheme.
The Scottish Government’s consultation focused
on proposals for the reform to the disclosure regime in Scotland. The aim is for respondents to focus on what changes are required to make disclosure of criminal convictions fit for the 21st century
The Scottish Government will draw upon this consultation to reform the PVG Scheme.
Camphill Scotland’s response highlighted that the PVG system needs to be accessible, and that training, guidance and support must be made available, particularly to third sector organisations, to ensure that the transition to the digital system proposed by the Scottish Government is smooth and effective.
Our response also underlined it is vital that the system is accessible for people with disabilities such as vision impairment, and easy to use for those who are not computer literate.
