Camphill Now and Then

Type: Publications
Topic: 80 years | Camphill

The Camphill movement is celebrating its 80th year this year.  Robin Jackson, a former Development and Training Coordinator at Camphill Scotland, wrote an article in which he describes the birth of the Camphill Movement.

The article, which was published last year in the peer-reviewed academic journal Northern Scotland, comments on the founder’s influences and challenges and brings us up to date in 2020 with the current position of Camphill in Scotland.

Robin Jackson states:

The unique contribution of Camphill in the fields of shared life communities and biodynamic agriculture is being increasingly recognized in the professional literature….

The … article describes the circumstances that led to Dr König’s arrival in Scotland and the early development of Camphill in its north-eastern locality. It also traces the local and international influences on the movement and offers an assessment of its importance.

From a challenging start to a challenging present, Camphill in Scotland remains resilient, creative and nurturing.
