Camphill Blair Drummond was delighted to welcome Mr Richard Leonard MSP, the Leader of the Scottish Labour Party, to Camphill Blair Drummond today.
This was the latest in the series of visits by the leaders of Scotland’s political parties to Camphill communities to find out more about the potential impact of Brexit upon the Camphill communities in Scotland.
Mr Leonard was given a tour of Camphill Blair Drummond, and met a group of co-workers likely to be affected by Brexit. He heard first-hand the co-workers’ concerns about the potential impact of Brexit upon Camphill Blair Drummond, and upon the other Camphill communities in Scotland.
Jason Glass, Director of Operations at Camphill Blair Drummond, said:
I was delighted to welcome Richard to our community at Camphill Blair Drummond. I believe that it is important we take every opportunity to show just how vital the work we do here is. This includes the significant contribution our staff make, including volunteers from EU countries and from non-EU countries, to the care and support of people with learning disabilities and other support needs.
It is also vital that we have discussions with elected representatives from all parties so they are fully informed about our work and the challenges we face, including the potential impact of Brexit, to keep providing the highest quality care and support. We appreciate the time Richard made available to visit and find out about life and work at Camphill Blair, talking with the people who contribute to our vibrant community.
