Camphill School Aberdeen offers a wide range of services for individuals aged 1 to 24, including: residential provision (up to 52 weeks of the year), day placements (kindergarten, primary, secondary and adult), transition programmes (16+ and 18+), work experience, SQA accreditation for learning, flexible day and overnight respite, craft workshops (including weavery, woodwork, sculpture, pottery, candle making, metal work and felt work), therapies (including art, massage, play, movement, speech, counselling, horse riding. Programmes are set up according to individual needs in partnership with families and local authorities. They are tailor made, both in relation to length (from 1 hour to 24/7) and type.
Amber Kindergarten offers holistic education and childcare for all children, including those with additional support needs, aged 3-5 years. Using natural materials and beautiful surroundings Amber Kindergarten provides an ideal environment in which children can play and engage in outdoor activities and crafts.
Nature Nurture works to improve the life chances of disadvantaged and vulnerable children and young people from families affected by substance misuse, alcohol abuse and domestic violence. Nature Nurture runs programmes for groups of 10 children or young people comprising 20 sessions in outdoor environments where they can play, challenge themselves, socialise, explore and create freely with the attuned support of specially trained staff.
The Sapphire Project offers-day placements for young adults with additional support needs who wish to continue learning life skills, crafts and receive adult further education or have the wish to experience working in garden, farm or other work placements. Many of these activities will link to the Scottish Qualifications Authority with options of completing SQA units. The Sapphire Project additionally offers therapeutic activities such as art, music and drama.
Cairnlee House is a therapeutic community and residential home for young people with a wide variety of special needs, providing 12 places for young people from the age of 16 to 25. Located in Bieldside, just 5 miles from Aberdeen, Cairnlee is comprised of 4 houses, craft workshops, gardens and assembly hall, all situated in a beautiful small estate in the midst of a suburban setting. The grounds offer opportunity for work and leisure and are within easy walking distance of local amenities and public transport.
